What if you had the chance to meet your idol?
What if that meeting resulted in the opportunity to invite your idol over to your home for dinner?
What if, even better, that dinner lead to a life-long friendship?
That’s the story being told at Circle Arts Theatre with their current production of “Always…Patsy Cline.” Based on a true story, the musical play highlights the enduring friendship between Patsy Cline (played by Yesenia McNett) and her biggest fan, Louise Seger (portrayed by Joy Lindsey.) Their hilarious and heart-warming bond is punctuated by 27 different Patsy Cline songs underscored by a live band on stage.
When Todd and Linda Smith learned that Circle Arts was presenting this audience favorite production again, they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to participate in the theatre’s benefit night program. This show combined many of their daughter Lindsey’s favorite things: live theatre, country music, friendship and strong women. Coupled with the story of a life lost too soon, Todd and Linda felt it was the perfect fit.
Lindsey had a passion for theatre and acted in many local theatre productions in her 20 years. Some of her favorites being “Annie”, “Bye Bye Birdie”, and “The Music Man”. One of the Smith’s goals was to use part of the memorial fund to help Comal County young adults pursue their dreams in the arts. The fund has awarded several local students with scholarships to theatre workshops, music classes abroad and more.
The Lindsey Lee Smith Memorial Fund benefit night is Thursday, September 9th. Tickets are $75 and limited availability. Tickets include free beer, wine and concessions.
