Online applications are now open for several scholarships with New Braunfels Community Foundation. More than $170,000 will be awarded to students in 2022.
Students have the opportunity to apply for financial aid for a wide range of studies including technical and vocational, engineering, music, seminary, automotive, education, agriculture, medical, fine arts, math and more.
Scholarship applications will be accepted online only all at www.nbcommunityfoundation.org.
New this year is the Meuth Family Texas A&M Scholarship. Trece and Brian Meuth established the fund to assist married students attending Texas A&M University in College Station. Trece and Brian (and child, Chelsea) experienced firsthand the challenges (financial and otherwise) faced by a married student getting a university education – in their case Electrical Engineering. This scholarship is desired to help married students succeed and persevere in the achievement of their goals as they move forward together in life.
In addition, the GVTC Foundation will once again be offering three large scholarships. The Ritchie T. Sorrells Scholarship for Leaders will award a $25,000 to a student who demonstrates leadership. The Ola Armstrong Scholarship will award $15,000 to a student involved in community service. A third scholarship, the GVTC Technical/Vocational Scholarship for $5,000, will be open to applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to continuing their education in pursuit of a degree or certification in a vocational or technical field.
This year, the Gonzalez Family Scholarship, open to New Braunfels High School graduating seniors, will award 10 scholarships, $4,500 each. The WGL Jr Scholarship, open to Canyon High School students, will award two scholarships, $2,000 each.
Several scholarships, open to students in NBISD and Comal ISD schools as well as students in private schools and in homeschool, will provide award amounts of $2,000, $1,500 or $1,000.
Most applications will close March 2, 2022, with the exception of the Bandera Electric Cooperative scholarships which close in February.

About the New Braunfels Community Foundation Scholarship Program
Created in 2015, the NBCF Scholarship Program helps local youth and adults pursue their dreams of furthering their education. NBCF matches caring donors with deserving students who want to continue their studies at colleges, universities, trade or technical schools. The scholarship program is created for individual donors who set up specific criteria for the administration of their funds.
NBCF fields all applicants, filters those applicants based on criteria set up by the donor, and administers and monitors scholarship grants. This is a much easier, less expensive way for donors to make a difference in a student’s life.
