Support our reading literacy program, which serves students across 27 schools in New Braunfels and Comal ISDs. Over the past twenty years, we have helped approximately 4,000 students strengthen their reading skills.
Our unique model pairs a mentor (“Best Buddy”) with a Canine Companion to provide one-on-one tutoring sessions for at-risk children who are reading below grade level—an approach that has consistently proven effective.
With more than 40% of fourth-grade students in Comal County reading below grade level, our program has become an essential part of the literacy support offered in both Comal and New Braunfels ISDs.
We also have impacted approx. 300 victims by providing court facility dogs to victims of sexual abuse and assault through a partnership with the Comal County District Attorney’s office. The dogs support victims from pre-trial meetings through sentencing as they relive some of the worst experiences of their lives.
