The Sen. Bob Krueger Public Service Scholarship will be open to graduating New Braunfels High School seniors and award a minimum of $7,500. U.S. Ambassador and Sen. Robert Charles Krueger was a 1953 graduate of New Braunfels High School. This scholarship fund was created in memory and honor of Sen. Krueger’s work ethic, thirst for knowledge and empathy for others. Applicants should exhibit civic leadership qualities, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and submit two reference letters.
The GVTC Foundation will once again offer three large scholarships and is increasing the award amount for the CTE Scholarship. The award amount will be up to $10,000. The Ola Armstrong Scholarship, recognizing graduating high school seniors for their community service, will award $15,000. The Ritchie T. Sorrells Scholarship, recognizing high school seniors for leadership, will award $25,000.
The New Braunfels Noon Lions Club Scholarship recognizes graduating high school seniors (attending a public high school in New Braunfels city limits) who are dedicated to community service. Five scholarships, $2,000 each, will be awarded.
Applications are already open for the Serve Outdoors Brian Hubertus Memorial Scholarship, which is open to graduating high school seniors in Comal County who are involved in community and volunteering.
The Wurstfest Community and Heritage Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors from Canyon High School, New Braunfels High School, New Braunfels Christian Academy or St. John Paul Catholic High School with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are involved in civic/extracurricular activities.
Students have the opportunity to apply for financial aid for a wide range of studies including technical and vocational, engineering, music, seminary, automotive, education, agriculture, medical, fine arts, math and more.
The Rafael and Mary L. Gonzalez Family Scholarship, open to New Braunfels High School graduating seniors, awards 10 scholarships, at a minimum of $3,000 each. The WGL Jr Scholarship, open to Canyon High School students, awards two scholarships, at a minimum of $1,200 each.
Several other scholarships are open to NBISD and Comal ISD students or to private school, home school and surrounding area students, and provide award amounts of $2,000, $1,500 or $1,000.
Nearly $220,000 in scholarships was awarded to students in 2025.
Scholarship applications will be accepted online only all at www.nbcommunityfoundation.org. While a few scholarships are already accepting online applications, most applications will open on Jan. 7.
Most applications will close March 2, 2026, with the exception of the Bandera Electric Cooperative scholarship applications which close Jan. 17, 2026.

About the New Braunfels Community Foundation Scholarship Program
Created in 2015, the NBCF Scholarship Program helps local youth and adults pursue their dreams of furthering their education. NBCF matches caring donors with deserving students who want to continue their studies at colleges, universities, trade or technical schools. The scholarship program is created for individual donors who set up specific criteria for the administration of their funds.
NBCF fields all applicants, filters those applicants based on criteria set up by the donor, and administers and monitors scholarship grants. This is a much easier, less expensive way for donors to make a difference in a student’s life.
