Champions of Charity Luncheon to feature giving story of Texas Singer-Songwriter Randy Rogers and comedic talents of Steve Treviño
Texas Singer-Songwriter, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist Randy Rogers and Comedian Steve Treviño will kick off the New Braunfels Community Foundation Fifth Annual Champions of Charity Luncheon on Nov. 3 at McKenna Events Center.
Rogers, a dedicated community leader and NBCF board member, will share his giving story and how the Randy Rogers Family Foundation, founded in 2019, has raised more than $1.9 million for nonprofit organizations, with the majority impacting Comal County.
Treviño, one of today’s most relatable stand-up voices, widely known as
“America’s Favorite Husband” with stand-up specials across Netflix, Amazon and Showtime, will provide a humorous perspective on the rewards of giving and the difference the Community Foundation makes by connecting generous people with meaningful community needs.
The Philanthropist of the Year and the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award recipient also will be honored at the event.
This past year, Dr. James C. Curry was recognized as the New Braunfels Philanthropist of the Year with The “Eager” Award. The award (named after Cecil Eager, the catalyst and a founder of New Braunfels Community Foundation) honors a local leader who is an example of “paying it forward” for others in the community. It also recognizes those who work to assist the NBCF growth in order to be more impactful.
Curry’s generous work with CRRC of Canyon Lake and Connections Individual and Family Services has made a significant impact in the community through the Curry Nature Center, Dr. James C. Curry Food Pantry and the Connections Dr. Curry Counseling Center. He is also an NBCF Legacy Society Member and Fund Holder. Past honorees also have included Alan and Suzanne Stahlman (2024); Gary Seals (2023); and Cecil Eager (2022).
In 2025, a new award, the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing the giving spirit of the community, was introduced.
Marian Benson and Betty Kyle were both recognized with the award this past year. The honor recognizes individuals who possess a true servant’s heart and who have invested more than 20 years of volunteering in the community.
The annual Champions of Charity Luncheon takes place during the month of November – the season of thankfulness and offers a great way to learn more about the giving spirit of the community, the needs of community and the power of giving in perpetuity.
In addition, the event highlights the year-long activities and milestones of NBCF. The New Braunfels Community Foundation formed in 2013 and has since granted more than $20.5 million in the community to nonprofit causes and has assets of more than $21 million. NBCF’s long-term growth is expected to be in excess of $100 million by 2035.
With 187 different funds, the foundation continues to grow and grant out to charitable causes such as youth and family services, food and shelter sustainability, senior services, education and other critical needs. This year, NBCF played a significant role in serving as the conduit for providing funds for flood relief in Kerrville.
The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, at McKenna Events Center, 801 W. San Antonio St.
