Scholarship applicants and grant applicants will want to mark two important upcoming dates on their March calendars.
The deadline for students to apply to New Braunfels Community Foundation scholarships is March 5.
The deadline for nonprofits to apply for the NB Women GO grants is March 22.
Applications for both programs will be accepted ONLINE only at www.nbcommunityfoundation.org.
Scholarships – Application Deadline March 5, 2021
Scholarships with New Braunfels Community Foundation offer financial aid for a wide range of studies, including technical and vocational, engineering, music, seminary, automotive, education, agriculture, medical, fine arts, math, English studies, agricultural studies and more.
Scholarships include:
• Ola Armstrong Foundation (The GVTC Foundation), $20,000 – Open to graduating high school seniors in GVTC service area who have excelled in community service
• Ritchie T. Sorrells Scholarship for Leaders (The GVTC Foundation), $20,000 – Open to graduating high school seniors in the GVTC service area who have excelled in leadership
• The GVTC Technical/Vocational Scholarship (The GVTC Foundation, up to $5,000) – Open to graduating high school seniors in the GVTC service area who have demonstrated a commitment to continuing their education in pursuit of a degree or certification in a vocational or technical field
• Gonzalez Family Scholarship, $2,000 (10) – Open to New Braunfels High School graduating seniors who are of Hispanic or German heritage
• WGL Jr Scholarship $1,400 (2) – Open to Canyon High School graduating seniors who are in the top one-third of their class
• New Braunfels Canyon Lake Association of REALTORS Scholarship, $1,000 – Open to, graduating seniors from an NBISD or Comal ISD high school, are home schooled, or who attend a private high school; and demonstrate financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Building Brighter Futures Fund Scholarship, $1,000 – Open to students who demonstrate financial need; and are graduating seniors from a public school or have obtained a General Equivalency Diploma in Comal or Guadalupe County
• Logan’s Legacy Memorial Fund Scholarship, $1,000 – Open to graduating high school seniors of Comal ISD or NBISD schools who are pursuing secondary education opportunities such as trade schools, specialty schools, junior college, law enforcement or the military
• Dale Wilson and Susan Wilson Robertson Art Scholarship, $1,500 – Open to graduating high school seniors in NBISD or Comal ISD who plan to pursue a degree in the Fine Arts (with preference given to those studying drawing, painting, art design, art history or similar studies)
• Comal 4-H Scholarship, $1,000 – Open to graduating high school seniors who have been active in the Comal County 4-H program for a minimum of two years
• Karl and Beth Hittle Scholarship, $1,500 (2) – Open to New Braunfels High School and Canyon High School graduating seniors who will be attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock; or attending an accredited Christian seminary; or will be attending a vocational or trade school.
• The Judge Robert T. Pfeuffer Civic Leadership Scholarship, $2,000 – Open to students who graduated from, or are graduating seniors at, New Braunfels High School or Canyon High School; and are attending or will be attending Texas A&M University at College Station
• The Wright Medical Scholarship, $4,500 (over three years) – Open to graduates of New Braunfels High School who have qualified to be admitted to a standard, accepted and accredited medical school conferring the MD degree; or NBHS graduates who have been accepted into graduate studies in medicine, nursing, dental surgery, or orthodontics.

NB Women GO Grants – Application Deadline March 22, 2021
NB Women GO Grant Applications are now open for area nonprofits to apply online at www.nbcommunityfoundation.org. Seven grants of $8,000 each will be awarded to area nonprofits. Deadline to apply is March 22, 2021.
The seven grant categories include:
• Arts/Culture
• Education
• Family Services – Adult
• Family Services – Children
• Health and Wellness – Adult
• Health and Wellness – Children
• Housing and Sustainability
Nonprofits are asked to submit an informational video as part of the application process. NB Women GO members will view the videos during the spring grant voting event in April and vote on grant award recipients at that time.
NB Women GO is a women’s giving circle with New Braunfels Community Foundation that formed in late 2017. Members are united by a common purpose – to make a difference in the lives of others by giving back in the community. Members pool their donations to make a bigger impact and award grants to New Braunfels area nonprofits on an annual basis.
Now in its fourth granting season, NB Women GO has awarded more than $170,000 in grants to 20 local nonprofits to date.
