Edmund and Melitta Schwab Timmermann set up the Doris Timmermann Memorial Fund in memory of their daughter, Doris Timmermann.
As a small girl, Doris was artistically inclined and took a great deal of interest in and excelled in art. She was athletically inclined by her participation in several forms of sports. She studied piano and dancing. She was very cheerful, friendly and enjoyed the companionship of her young peers. She was active in Pep Squad and Girl Scouts. She was active in her church and taught Sunday School.
She served as a counselor at Girls State Program. She was a business major at Stephens College, in Columbia, Missouri, where she graduated in 1946.
The NBHS Doris Timmermann Memorial Scholarship is open to students who:
* Are graduating seniors at New Braunfels High School;
* Demonstrate financial need;
* Are planning to pursue a major in business administration or fine arts; and
*Possess some of the same traits exhibited by Doris Timmermann.
