The mission of the Preserving New Braunfels Fund is to save historic New Braunfels.

Concerned citizens in the community saw the need to come to the aid of historic buildings whose owners could not afford to save those buildings.

One of the first projects is to use funds to help move one of the oldest homes in the county to Heritage Village/Museum of Texas Handmade Furniture. The Braschler House, at 240 Kowald Lane, was built circa 1854 by the Rev. Henry Braschler who served the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Martin’s congregation from 1852 to 1857.

The caliche and cedar fachwerk home will be moved from its current location to Heritage Village.

The fund creators hope that through their partnerships with other preservation nonprofits and by spreading the word, they can save more historic structures, one building at a time.

At its new location, The Braschler House will serve as a gallery for the new Rahe estate gift of Texas handmade furniture.
