Raquel Brianna Yarovinsky-Lee passed away on Nov. 24, 2017. Raquel’s soul shined so bright anyone around her was immersed by her warm and loving presence. Raquel loved the uniqueness of a person and found the most intimate way to celebrate moments of friendship and life. Following her Canyon High School graduation (Class of 2009), Raquel traveled the world with YWAM mission trips to share her love for Jesus Christ. After traveling for a year, Raquel attend St. Philip’s College and Texas State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications (Class of 2014). To know true love and acceptance was to know Raquel.
From an early age, Raquel, navigated life with a speech impediment but that never stopped her from being the truest version of herself. Raquel managed to connect herself to people in such a way that was so deeply personal that others could feel safe and loved. Having her in your life meant that she allowed you to be yourself – judgement free. You could find Raquel singing at the top of her lungs with you with the windows down in the car. You could find her spontaneously throwing a dance party in the middle of the day. You could find her sharing art with you as she once said, “Make something beautiful and release it.”
Thank you for remembering Raquel and supporting this fund as we work to give students of Canyon High School a chance to pursue their dream. We hope that this scholarship will pave the way for others to accept themselves while making a positive change in their community. Through this scholarship, we hope to continue to share Raquel’s legacy.
